"Stylish But Have Question About Night Sleep Safety" 2009-09-04

My husband and I received the Orbit bassinet as a gift. Our baby is due to be born in a few weeks. I love the stylish look and all of the features of the bassinet - but I have questions about using it at night as a cradle. Do others put sheets in the bassinet? Is there a concern about the sheets not fitting snugly? Or, have people just been putting baby directly on the pad that is included with no other items? I tried calling customer service but they weren't able to give me any answers. Thanks!

I purchased this bassinet in June 2007 for my daughter who was born that month. I used it daily for about 5 months. I was sad when she grew out of it- that's how much I loved it. I had read that it wasn't good to keep an infant in a carseat all the time, because it was best if they laid flat. Therefore, I kept the bassinet in the car trunk and each trip to the grocery store or walks around the air-conditioned mall-- I would whip out the bassinet and attach it to the stroller frame (since I had also purchased the Orbit Infant System) and wheel her around while she slept, well, like a baby. In the first few months of her life she would fall asleep almost immediately upon being pushed around in this bassinet, so it allowed me to run a lot of errands and take daily walks to lose the baby weight.
At home, I would also put the bassinet on the rocker and use it for her naps downstairs. I liked the option to either keep the rocker stationary, or to flip up the levers and be able to push it gently for the rocking motion.
I am due in a few weeks with baby #2, so I just pulled this bassinet out of storage, washed the cover, sun shade, etc and it still looks brand new. The cover, etc are all very easy to remove and wash, and I hung everything to dry so they wouldn't shrink, and it was a cinch to put back onto the frame. I am sure that I will enjoy using this bassinet for #2 just as much as I did for #1. When I purchased this product I had intended to use it for two babies, and I am very glad that I will be doing just that.

The Orbit Bassinet Cradle was perfect for our newborn baby! Our daughter slept in it days and nights from the moment she came home from the hospital, until we moved her into her crib at around three months. Of course anyone would want to buy the Orbit on style alone, but the functions and practicality were just as amazing! LOVED the compact size and mobility as it was lightweight and easy to move up and down the stairs, and our baby could sleep soundly during transit as well. The soft inside cushion is machine-washable, and we also liked the option of the rocker, which can rock front-to-rear or side-to-side. We passed the bassinet along three times to various friends with newborns after our daughter outgrew it, and it still looks brand new. Only regret....I wish we had bought the entire Orbit System!

LOVE IT!! This was one of my first experiences with the Orbit System and I can't say enough great things about it.
My son was a large baby at birth (9.4 lbs), and he slept comfortably in the Orbit Bassinet until he was ready to transfer to
his crib. I really liked the versatility of the system and think my son spent most of his time in the Orbit Bassinet during his first
3 months of his life. The Orbit bassinet made it easy and smooth to transfer my son in and out of the cradle and up and down
out of reach of his older brother. I also did some traveling with the Bassinet and loved knowing that my son was going to sleep well in his familiar surroundings. A definite must for new moms!
